Rt-1 Clutch

Post by Tunnelratt » Sat Nov 10, 2018 7:59 pm

Not ready to put things back together I am waiting on crank seals, but I pulled things apart to get ready.

There is a small flat bearing behind the clutch housing, it rides on the transmission shaft, there is a spacer that if you were inclined to remove you would need to remove the kick start gear to get to the spacer, I have no intention of taking that spacer off, this description is only to get everybody in the right location.

When I removed the clutch housing the flat bearing was sandwiched between that spacer and a thrust washer behind the primary gear on the primary gear spacer, when installed the clutch housing then would engage the dogs on the primary gear. Makes sense and looks completely correct, but some of the pictures I have looked at in the Service manual and Clymers, appear to show the flat bearing riding directly behind the clutch housing, which doesn't make any sense.

It could be the Coors Light not letting my brain focus but I need some clarification please
