I have got about 50 miles on the new rings....

For the past week been working on some of the bike's main issues...

Swapped out the stator as the charging circuits were not working correctly..
Changed flywheel back to stock....had a lightened flywheel on it..
Fixed several minor wiring issues...
Replaced broken brake lever
Repaired the silencer....it had broken inside..
rewelded and also brazed parts of it
Re-installed blinkers..
Changed trans fluid
Re-adjusted oil pump...
Replaced upper balls in steering head..

Still got some minor issues....but I think she's ready for next week.

The motor is running pretty strong...as both the worn rings and the broken
silencer were both affect the HV Special's power output !

Still have an electrical issue to iron out...I am in the home stretch now !

Sounds like you have been a BUSY crazy mad man as well!

Deadline is looming and I always feel a little stressed but is worth it all when we arrive and the bikes are ready to perform.

Last weekend for all us to make sure everything is ready to go and to start the packing process.

Cannot wait see you and all of the California boys again- going to be one heck of good time for all!!

Default The Countdown Begins

Finishing up the last details on the HV Special today....

repaired compression release valve

and last is to replace leaky head gasket...

First stop is Moab and then off to Ouray...

Been familiarizing myself with map of Ouray area to get the

general idea where some key areas and rides are !

Both bikes are now finished.....10 mile final shakedown ride this morning

DVM's freshly painted front fender to go along with

rebuilt bottom-end and fresh bore !

I installed some NOS Preston Petty mudflaps.

Not sure if I like the 2 flap look ?

Will be Fine for Endurofest 2014 though !

Atleast now... I am guaranteed not to hit any mud !

Both bikes are now in top shape....

ready for 6 days of riding!

Well the prep work paid off....as my Johnson Valley Special (its current configuration) did not let me down.

No repairs or breakdowns over the 420 mile I logged at Moab and Ouray at Endurofest 2014 ! Not even a sparkplug.

I did lose a rear fender bolt...but that's it. Just gas and oil...so needless to say I am very happy with the bikes performance.

Enduronut and Larry$ both had an opportunity to ride the bike for the first time during the trip...

So I hope they will post their ride impressions of the J.V Special?

Feel free to be honest good ...bad or indifferent.

As I am always looking for ways to make improvements...

Don't worry if it's negative....you wont hurt my feelings.
