Hi everyone. It's been a while since I've been through but I still browse around and play on my RT1B. When I saw this pic, it reminded me of long ago with my engine and what happened to it.....that looks about identical to this. Actually in mine, that bearing started breaking up while riding and what did the damage was when the ball bearings fell out, the races started slapping together under load. The clue was when it jumping out of 5th under heavy load, then snapping back in, for no reason. Ran fine right before that. It apparently broke the retaining ring loose and broke out some of it's recess, just like this one. Found the bits in the bottom of the clutch area. I wouldnt be surprised if the same thing didn't happen to this motor and someone changed the bearing and doctored the retainer to keep from replacing the cases. If I remember right, I think I changed that bearing in mine from the clutch side. There was enough of the aluminum left to hold the ring in and I didn't have a problem with it after that. Mine happened back before I had internet, ebay, ect. so sometime you do whatcha gotta do.

It is too darned bad that photobucket is holding its users hostage regarding "third party posting".

This thread seems to be a top notch resource for anybody restoring a Yamaha Enduro, especially a 360. Now it is darn near a worthless post without pictures.

It is a shame because DEET obviously does top notch work. No disrespect to him. Much disrespect to photobucket.

Rant over.

You are correct. This thread was the Gold Star go-to for RT1 rebuilds. Anyone, actually, as so much of the wealth of information found here applied to bikes across the board.

The whole PhotoBucket thing has had such a detrimental effect on this site and then combined with the inability for members to go back and edit their old posts with new photos from a different photo hosting site has been like a death punch to the throat. Very disappointing. For some reason that I have no idea of, I am still able to share photos from PhotoBucket, but am anxious for how long that will last and am pondering the amount of time it would take to build a Flickr account and then the thought of how long will it be before Flickr itself makes the turn to high subscription fees.

And for that to be a viable option anyway, this site still needs to figure out how to allow posters to go back and edit old posts.

No one regrets this more than I.

It reminds me of the guy who took over the drug company and raised the prices 10,000%. During his interviews he was so smug... he ain't smug now!
He's in prison.

Maybe the PhotoBucket guy will end up there....I hope so.

Martin Shkreli, I think was the jerk's name. Not sure why I remember his name. I prefer to remember the names of guys like Lenny Skutnik, myself. Remember him?
