old islander May possibly Own a Yamaha Enduro?

Default RT3 steering dampener

Is there a trick to getting the steering dampener out of the bottom of the triple clamp? I have the screw out of the back, but it wont budge. Don't want to break anything forcing it.

Also, is there any maintenance to this item, or is it just a clean it off and reinstall?

Thanks,
Jeff

Did the screw have the small "tit" on it when you took it out? They sometimes break off and stay in the neck. Magnet and a small probe
to remove it. Have a look at a parts breakdown and you will see. D

.... and as Dennis said... if the screw comes out intact and is still stuck - tap on it with a dowel or long punch from the inside and it should comes out pretty easily then Randy

Dennis gets the cigar. That's exactly what happened. Trying to get the piece out. It's kicking my butt right now. Off to the hardware store for a stronger magnet.
